Telangana

Telangana is a southern state of India with at least 2,500 years of heritage. Closer to the center of India, its Deccan (Dakhin) terrain is home to some of oldest known gems and precious metal mines in the world. The Telangana region was the source of the largest known historic diamonds in the world, later renamed as the Golconda diamonds and Kohinoor. Its wealth and talent attracted artists, traders and invaders, leaving a tapestry of wondrous monuments, destruction and ruins.

At sites such as Alampur and Vemulawada in Telangana, the shilpins experimented and fused arts and architectures from the north, south, east and western kingdoms. Numerous Buddhist, Hindu and Jain sites are found in culturally rich and architecturally diverse Telangana. These temples and monasteries were built at scenic spots such as along the banks of regional rivers, man made water reservoirs, and rocky hill tops. Reaching these sites is now ever more quicker and simpler, given the recently completed roads and highways infrastructure projects.
